How do search engines work?

Let's be real, in Australia, when we say search engine we really mean Google. Like the Wicked Witch of the West and her flying monkeys, Google sends out little robots to scout your site.

They get to know your content, find out how well your site works across devices, and report back with information about your key words. Google also looks at whether you use their Google My Business tools, and reward good Google My Business behaviour.

They compare you to all the other people on the internet and rank you according to a complex formula (the mysterious algorithm).

Why does SEO matter?

Search is just one pillar of the digital ecosystem, and SEO is just one way to get found. That said, it can have a huge impact on your business and bottom line.

First and foremost, SEO increases your brand visibility and traffic to your site. When done with your target customers in mind, SEO tactics will help you get more of the right people looking at your site. This means you'll be generating higher quality leads, who are more likely to convert. This, of course, means more sales.
